Talitha Koum receives Planning Permission
Release Ipswich has been granted full planning permission for the Talitha Koum project by Suffolk Coastal at their council meeting on August 19. The intention is now to move forward to provide a sustainable Christian Therapeutic Community for vulnerable women, giving them a chance to change their lives.
Trustee, Liz Beaton, says “We acknowledge and praise our God for this, we have been truly blessed. We also pray for the residents of the local village, and we will use our best endeavours to ensure that there is no disruption in the area”.
Release Ipswich emphasises that the setting for the centre is very important. A Suffolk farm is an ideal place, enabling the students, as they are known, to leave the past behind them and harness the peace and quiet of the countryside. They will grow produce, selling the surplus, be taught new life skills, and receive expert help in learning to beat their addictions and making the most of their lives.
CEO of Release Ipswich, John Cobbold, says “We have been encouraged by the support we have received, and would like to thank all those who have been behind us with prayers and tangible resources to make this project a reality. We would also like to thank our architects KLH, the planning authority officers and members.
Our intention is to make the project a successful and sustainable venture, changing the lives of these women. We will use our best endeavours to ensure that there is no disruption to the residents of the village near the project.”
