Fairtrade Producer welcomed to Ipswich

The Ipswich Fairtrade Group, as part of Fairtrade Fortnight, are having a gathering to welcome a Fairtrade producer from Africa and a member of The Fairtrade Foundation. This will be on Thursday 10th March, at The Sanctuary, St Nicholas Centre, Ipswich 7.00 -9.30p.m.

There will be refreshments, a quiz and a chance to help judge the DESIGN A FAIRTRADE T SHIRT competition that was launched recently across all the Ipswich primary schools.

The Fairtrade Foundation say that 30 million people knew about this year’s Fairtrade Fortnight; 10 million more than 2009. This year there will be a much needed focus on cotton. Cotton can carry the Fairtrade message far beyond a slogan on a t-shirt. Cotton’s link to the fashion industry, and its place in our lifestyles, means that the potential impact of Fairtrade cotton focus goes well beyond the category itself.

Local organiser, Elaine Coltham, says “It would be great to see you at our gathering, if you would like to come. Admission is free, but we will be having a basket for donations. Profits from the evening will be given to The Fairtrade Foundation.

Numbers are limited so please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to reserve a place.”
