CYM’s Sizewell weekend comes closer to home
November saw over 80 young people attend the CYM Sizewell weekend with Training Co-ordinator, Sarah Benham, speaking on how we’re all a ‘work in progress’.
Sarah writes “The weekend was a great blend of thought provoking, challenging encounters, mixed with the usual fun and hilarity. We saw contestants fight each other in live rounds of ‘Hero’s top trumps’, we saw young people covered in beans and custard, and most exciting of all, saw snow at Sizewell. The weekend was a great balance of silly games, fun and laughter, time together, and most importantly encounters with God.”
Now three months on CYM are putting on an event called ‘LIFTED’ which aims to be a one ‘day version’ of the Sizewell weekends.
Aimed at 14-18 year olds, the day will take a look at identity and purpose, with guest speakers Matt Levett and Dave Hannah doing the main sessions. The usual ingredients of laughter, interaction, and group times together will be the backcloth to looking at how practically we can be the people God has called us to be.
CYM are hoping the Sizewell experience can be brought closer to home, closer to school, closer to mind. Sizewell weekends are no longer just about Sizewell….
‘Lifted’ will be on 12th March, 10am-4pm, at Hope Church, Orwell Centre at £7 for the day.
If you are interested in booking a place on ‘Lifted’, please contact Emily Hannah on emily@c-y-m.org.uk.
The CLOSING DATE for applications is 8th March so that we know numbers to cater for. Please encourage people to sign up soon. There are still lots of spaces available.
