Noel Tredinnick rehearses Ipswich Prom Praise choir
The Ipswich Prom Praise Choir is busy practicing for the big event on November 19, when they will be joined by the All Souls Langham Place Orchestra, under their conductor Noel Tredinnick.
Noel Tredinnick is busy worldwide as a conductor of Orchestras and Choirs. In addition to the major concert venues in the UK and Europe he has conducted at the Sydney Opera House, the Conservatorium of Music, Moscow, and cities in North America. Through his involvement with BBC televisions Songs of Praise millions are aware of his work.
Since 1987 he has sought to expand the ministry of All Souls musicians through concerts and recordings. Prom Praise is now an annual feature on the Calendar at the Royal Albert Hall and up to four further Prom Praise concerts are presented each year at major cities around the UK. This is the first occasion that Prom Praise has visited Ipswich. The guest speaker here will be Hugh Palmer, Rector of All Souls Church.
Noel was in Ipswich this week to encourage the local choir and here are some of the answers he gave to some questions that were asked about Prom Praise.
What can the audience expect at a Prom Praise concert?
“A broad range of music that appeals to all tastes, ages and conditions. Musical entertainment aimed to enthral, not only the over-35s but, ALL the family: from your youngest (well over 8s) to your oldest (well under 108s!).
Don't have to be musical or religious to enjoy the programme or be involved. Very inspirational Music that moves the spirit, whoever you are but also provides a fun & joyful element too.”
Your vision for Prom Praise is founded on your Christian commitment and a desire to encourage churches. How does Prom Praise help?
“Prom Praise builds the local community and helps bind us together - because the audience members are not just spectators.
The programme allows for the creators of the music (we as human creatures) to acknowledge the great Creator of the music.
It helps our faith to grow and be expressed in so many different musical styles. To see 'Church/Christian' music not as boring and monochrome - to experience the divine - but the varied styles only go to reveal just how broad and wide is the nature and pleasure of God Himself. God is the God of (similar) infinite variety.”
Why should people come to the Prom Praise concert?
It will be a vibrant, energetic and inspirational performance from Choir, Orchestra, Soloists & Conductor.
The programme and performances lift you out of your present concerns, woes & circumstances - and refresh and renew you with a real sense of eternity (with God himself).
Prom Praise as its name suggests captures the very essence & exhilaration of the world-famous Last Night of the Proms - a real Gala, even including Elgar's iconic and scene-setting (definitive) Pomp & Circumstance March No. 1. Wave & cheer for all your worth!!”
Noels final comments after the practice were “That was great! The choir are so enthusiastic and I am looking forward to the concert in Ipswich and experiencing the fellowship of a full house at the Regent on November 19th.”
