East Anglia Schools Workers Forum
Three youth organisations, Scripture Union, CYO and Ipswich based CYM, are holding a forum for schools workers from across the E Anglian region on 6 January 2012.
The East Anglia Schools Workers Forum is based on the simple idea that around the region there’s a lot of wisdom, experience and good practice and it would be great for those involved to be able to share it with each other. The day will give the opportunity to hear from schools work practitioners and to discuss issues and ideas in a setting that’s more of a conversation than a conference; social, but with a bit of structure.
The following people will be leading sessions that include plenty of time for discussion. Whether the subject is familiar, or something new, the aim is to inspire, inform and involve everyone in the conversation.
Chaplaincy with Steve Whyatt (GenR8, Cambridge). There’s been an explosion in the number of Christian visitors working in schools as Chaplains. Steve Whyatt is overseeing three pilot projects for SU.
Self Esteem with Amy Watson (CYO, Colchester). Beloved is a six week course that helps Year 9 girls discover a sense of self-worth and value. Amy has written and delivered the course which has been run in four schools so far where it has made a real difference to the girls who took part.
School Games with Simon Barker (Scripture Union). School Games is being developed as part of More Than Gold’s response to London 2012. In essence it is a programme for 1 day in a Primary School and it has a strong (Christian) values ethos but is also great fun, educational and appropriate for those of any faith or none.
