Leading theologian to visit Ipswich
Many people find the Bible difficult to understand, and it is not easy to gain a firm grasp of the overall message. In fact, the book that they are meant to love seems to be a hard slog at times.
In response to this, leading theologian, Dr Peter Walker, will lead an exhilarating tour through the entire Bible called “Unlocking the Bible”, with the aim that each person can go away thinking, ‘Yes! I get it!’

Peter Walker
Revd Dr Peter Walker is Associate Vice-Principal of Wycliffe Hall, University of Oxford. He lectures in New Testament studies and Biblical Theology and has a special interest in the historical Jesus and issues associated with Jerusalem and Middle East.
Peter studied Classics at Cambridge and then did his doctoral research in Early Church History. After training at Wycliffe, he served in a parish in Tonbridge for 4 years before doing further post-doctoral research at Tyndale House on Jerusalem in the New Testament. He lives in Abingdon with Georgie and their two teenage children, Hannah and Jonathan.
Peter joined the staff of Wycliffe Hall in 1996. Since then he has had various responsibilities and is now Director of Development. He was the convenor for a major Anglican consulation in 2007.
Peter has written a two-volume introduction to the places mentioned in Luke-Acts, under the titles 'In the Steps of Jesus' and 'In the Steps of Saint Paul' (Lion, 2006 & 2008). He has also written a twelve-step introduction to following Jesus based on Luke 24 and Acts 2, entitled 'The Jesus Way' (Monarch Books, 2009). The book is written as an essential Christian 'starter kit', and is especially useful for those who want further input after attending an Alpha Course. Peter is also the author of 'The Lion Guide to The Bible' (2010), which is the basis of his Bible-overview teaching. |
